A house without books is like a room without windows

Perhaps the most striking room at the Moulin is the magnificent library. Flooded with light from the huge windows which now cover the original entrance to the barn, it is a peaceful place to read and relax. In the cooler evenings, the double-sided wood burning stove is the undoubted centrepiece of the room.

The room is stocked with over 3000 books, a collection acquired by Gordon's father who for a number of years owned and ran Northgate Antiquarian Books in Chester. When he retired he transferred some of the stock to his internet book business and the remainder now forms our impressive library.

If you love books then you are sure to find something to interest and stimulate you.

Catalogued to make it easy to find subjects that interest you, we positively encourage our guests to make full use of this unique facility. The books date from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries and encompass literature, modern fiction plus an extensive range of non fiction stretching from architecture to zoology. Should you find yourself half way through a book that you can't put down at the end of your stay with us, don't worry - all the books are available to buy.

We plan to expand the library over the coming years and to develop an interesting collection of books in French for our French guests, so there will always be new books to discover.

Some of our books are also available to buy on the internet through Biblio.
